Security adviceElectrostatic discharge (ESD):
When handling electronic components, use ESD protection measures such as earthing straps to prevent damage.
Protection against moisture:
Only operate the devices within the specified humidity limits. Avoid contact with liquids and only clean the system with dry cloths.
Temperature protection and ventilation:
Only operate the appliances within the specified temperature limits. Do not store any flammable materials near the system. Ensure that the ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating. Install devices at a sufficient distance to ensure good air circulation. Check cables and connections regularly for damage to prevent short circuits and possible fires.
Cable management:
Check cables and connections regularly to detect damage or wear at an early stage.
Electrical safety:
Connect appliances to properly earthed sockets or SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) power sources. Disconnect all power sources before working on the appliance to prevent electrical hazards. For appliances with redundant power supply units, disconnect all power cables before maintenance. Do not carry out any work on live parts; disconnect the power supply before carrying out maintenance work. Only use cables and connections that comply with the manufacturer's specifications.
Cleaning and maintenance:
Maintenance work should only be carried out by trained specialists. Clean the ventilation openings regularly to improve air circulation and prevent dust accumulation. Use spare parts and accessories in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Assembly and disassembly:
Only install appliances on stable and level surfaces to avoid the risk of falling and tipping over. Always use several people when installing heavy components to avoid injuries. Place the heaviest devices at the bottom of a rack to ensure stability. Never pull several components out of the rack at the same time, as this can lead to a risk of tipping over.
Handling:
Only remove or move hard drives or other storage media when they are switched off to prevent damage and data loss. Only use components that are suitable for the respective system and have been approved by the manufacturer. Clearly label the emergency stop switch for the system and make it easily accessible. Avoid shocks, jolts or vibrations when handling data storage media. Ensure the rack is stable and only pull out one component at a time to prevent the rack from tipping over.
Access protection
Only install devices in areas with restricted access to prevent unauthorised access.
Transport and storage:
During transport, ensure that all internal modules are firmly secured to prevent damage. Ensure that the device is stabilised to prevent it from tipping over or falling. Place heavier components in lower areas of the rack to improve stability.
