Electrostatic discharge (ESD):

Use an ESD wrist strap and ensure that the switch is properly grounded before installing it or connecting cables to prevent damage from static discharge.

Temperature protection and ventilation:

Make sure that the ventilation slots remain unobstructed to ensure sufficient heat dissipation. The switch should not be operated in closed enclosures or under extreme temperatures. Install the switch in an environment that is fireproof. Keep flammable materials away and ensure that smoke detectors and extinguishing systems are in place.

Cable management:

Lay network cables neatly and tidily to avoid tripping hazards and prevent damage to the connections. Check the cables regularly for tightness and damage. Use cable ties or cable ducts for better organisation.

Electrical safety:

Only use tested, earthed sockets and the mains cable recommended by the manufacturer. Switch off the power supply before carrying out maintenance work or changing connections. Avoid using damaged power cables and ensure that the power supply fulfils the device specifications. Use surge protection devices on the power connections and, if necessary, lightning protection for network cables, especially for outdoor installations.

Cleaning and maintenance:

Switch off the switch before carrying out maintenance work and disconnect it from the power supply. Clean the ventilation slots regularly to remove dust and check the cable connections.

Assembly and disassembly:

Install the switch on a stable, level surface or in a suitable rack. Avoid wobbly or crowded installations that could jeopardise stability. If necessary, use mounting rails or mounting material supplied with the device to ensure a secure hold.

Access protection:

Install the switch in a secure area that is only accessible to authorised personnel. Use rack locks or other security devices to control access.

Transport and storage:

Transport the switch in its original packaging or in suitable impact-resistant packaging. Ensure that no sensitive components are damaged during transport. Remove all cable connections before transport.
