Security adviceElectrostatic discharge (ESD):
Use antistatic measures when handling heat sinks and neighbouring components to prevent damage from electrostatic discharge.
Temperature protection and ventilation:
Do not block any ventilation slots or the airflow around the heat sink to avoid overheating and maintain efficiency. Check the system temperature regularly to ensure that the heat sink is functioning correctly and dissipating heat efficiently.
Cable management:
Ensure that cables do not obstruct the air flow around the heat sink.
Cleaning and maintenance:
Work on heatsinks, such as replacement or reinstallation, should only be carried out by trained specialists. Regularly clean the surface of the heat sink and neighbouring fans to avoid dust accumulation that could impair cooling performance. Replace the heatsink only with compatible models approved by the manufacturer so as not to impair the performance of the system.
Assembly and disassembly:
Follow the manufacturer's instructions when installing the heat sink to ensure optimum heat dissipation.
Handling:
Only use suitable tools to install or remove the heat sink to prevent damage. Keep away from fan blades in the vicinity of the heat sink to avoid injury. Do not touch hot surfaces of the heat sink directly after operation. Wait until the system has cooled down to avoid burns. Do not remove any safety covers that indicate the hot surface of the heat sink. These protect against accidental contact.
Transport and storage:
Ensure that the heat sink is protected from impact or damage during transport. A bent or damaged heat sink can impair the cooling performance.
