Remove power from the device before installing or removing GBICs to avoid electrical damage. Make sure the GBIC is compatible with the electrical specifications of the device.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Clean the optical ports only with designated equipment to remove dust and debris that may affect performance. Replace defective GBICs immediately as malfunctions may cause network problems or damage to other devices. Do not use uncertified or incompatible modules as this poses safety and performance risks. Make sure that the GBIC modules are compatible with the host device and the network cables used to avoid malfunctions.

Never stare directly into the optical ports, as laser beams can escape from the modules and cause eye injury. Use suitable protective caps when the GBIC is not in use to prevent unprotected radiation.
