Celebrating 20 years: our company from A to Z
This year we are celebrating our 20th anniversary. Two decades in a world that is moving incredibly fast, developing and constantly revealing new surprises. In an industry as progressive as IT, you have to keep up in order to keep up - but for us, it is not and has not always been just the "very latest" that is important, but above all, sustainability, stability and security. This is how we have developed from a simple "computer dealer" into a professional IT remarketing company. We offer IT services individually tailored to our customers, such as audit-proof data erasure - which requires a broad range of expertise as well as absolute reliability. Of course, a good pinch of experience doesn't hurt either, and we've been able to gather plenty of it over the last 20 years. Before an event like this, you usually do some collective soul-searching - you prepare activities and a celebration, thank the companies and people without whom your success would not have been possible. You remember, perhaps even suppress some things and smile about the shared experiences. We would also like to give you a little insight into our company history and let you share in our anniversary - because you are one of the many reasons why we have been around for so long. All set to go - The beginnings of quattroM
All beginnings are difficult - especially in an industry as fast-moving as IT. But in the 2000s, PCs, notebooks and especially servers and storage devices still had a completely different value. The business of recycling used hardware was still in its infancy - but many wanted to get involved. However, disillusionment often came quickly, because without a certain amount of know-how, you are unfortunately out of place in the industry. Our company history began as a one-man operation with the purchase and sale of servers and PCs in 2003. Our company boss, Rainer Misslbeck, grew up in the IT sector and already had several years of experience under his belt. His extensive knowledge of data erasure and the dismantling of servers in data centers was particularly impressive - a clear advantage in the highly competitive IT remarketing sector.
Besonders what means "special"
It's probably no different with your "own" company than it is with your own children - you always find them/yourself special. That's why we probably can't make neutral judgements here either 😉 But there are many things that define us as a company, values and virtues that are important and that we want to uphold. Reliability, safety, fairness and honesty are points that we demand from our suppliers and provide for our customers - because this is the only way to create long-term partnerships from which both sides can benefit. Our team is organised accordingly. Thanks to flat hierarchies, friendly interaction with one another and, of course, a passion for IT, we are characterised by a special motivation that we want to put into practice every day, rather than having to.
Clever
We're not talking about ourselves 😉, but about our concept of giving used hardware a second (perhaps even third) life.In our fast-paced world, it is often difficult to pay attention to sustainability - usually because being more environmentally friendly equals being more expensive.With refurbished IT, on the other hand, you can kill two birds with one stone - because if you recycle your old IT, hand in hardware that is still in working order or use it as a customer, you are not only making a valuable contribution to protecting our environment, but also saving yourself a whole lot of money.
Dienstleister what means "provider"
We have never been a pure sales company - since we started selling used servers, topics such as data erasure, logistics and professional disposal have always been present.Over time, however, knowledge and experience have been added and we have constantly expanded and improved our service portfolio.Today, our modular concept can be tailored precisely to the needs of our customers. In addition to IT sales, this also includes IT purchase (free purchase offer for your hardware), logistics (packed and unpacked), rollout (dismantling of your old IT by our employees) and inventory, e.g. according to serial or your inventory numbers. Of course, our service portfolio also includes certified and audit-proof data erasure, the recycling of defective devices, the reconditioning and auditing of the devices (naturally with traceable reporting) as well as the sale, e.g. via revenue sharing.
Electronic waste
This needs to be avoided - after all, far too many functioning and well-preserved smartphones, PCs, notebooks, servers and storage devices are still simply thrown away.This is not only problematic in terms of data protection - for example, if the hardware ends up in the rubbish without being deleted - but is also bad for our environment.For us, sustainability - a topic that is unfortunately often disparaged these days - is a matter close to our hearts, which is why we would like to support interested companies.You can find more information about this on our company website: www.quattrom.de/hardware-ankauf
Festplatten what means hard drives
And we also know the quote: "The question is not whether the hard drive will fail, but when". Sorry, but this also applies to new goods and here you can't even test the hard drive before buying it - but our HDDs and SSDs are not only much cheaper, but have also been reliable in operation, production errors excluded. And: Backup is a must anyway! 😊
Green-IT
Many companies boast about "environmentally friendly" products, which then either arrive thickly wrapped in plastic or only appear more sustainable at first glance. This is known as "greenwashing" - and we know that our technology products are no dandelions.They consume electricity, are transported all over the world and are made from materials that are anything but environmentally friendly.However, refurbished IT has a clear advantage over new products: the longer computers, notebooks, servers and the like are in use, the less new ones need to be produced.This means that fewer valuable resources are consumed and the CO₂ emissions from manufacturing and supplying the individual parts (which also happens across the globe) are minimised. It also makes a difference whether I simply throw my used PC in the bin or hand it over - even if it is defective - to a company that takes care of clean dismantling.Some components may still be used and the "rest" will be reliably disposed of so that the various materials can be recycled.You can find more information on this in our blog post.
Harmonious climate
Who would have thought that this is possible in a company where both Upper Palatinate and Upper Bavaria work together 😉.Joking aside - harmony is an important aspect of our collaboration, both internally and with our partners.We strive for long-term partnerships, which is why we carefully check whether we are a good match.Our suppliers and service providers are companies that we trust and that we have known for a long time - this ensures a good working relationship that also benefits our customers.
International
Once a year, we go to an international meeting between IT dealers, IT service providers and refurbishers. We are celebrating this on 1 December 2023 - our 20th anniversary, which we think is something to be a little proud of 😊
Know-how
Leonardo da Vinci once said: "Wisdom is the daughter of experience." After 20 years in the IT remarketing business, we can more than emphasise this. Because you can already know a lot, it is experience that really teaches you. That's why we are constantly expanding our knowledge - reflecting on past projects and continuously improving ourselves.
Leidenschaft what means "passion"
"That's a really cool server - and the equipment, wow", just as some people rave about a new car, we get compliments about decent DDR4 RAM, a practical and slim 1- or 2U housing, a powerful CPU or hard drives with a decent capacity.I think only the real tech nerds and computer geeks can understand us here - but our passion for IT is simply huge and you should work in a job that you enjoy 😉.
Milestones
A point that sounds so simple was difficult for us to grasp:What were our biggest milestones? Of course, this includes the major projects where you have earned a lot of money - but these are not always the ones that bring you joy. It took a lot of sweat and blood, stress resistance and stamina. That's why it's not really the major orders that we would like to cite as milestones, but the perseverance that we have shown, the knowledge that we have been able to apply and the first-class team spirit that has remained intact even under pressure. Our milestones were only achieved through the many small pebbles that everyone who has supported our company and our work has helped to pile up.
Nachhaltigkeit or "Sustainability"
What you often preach, you should also practise yourself.That's why we have constantly improved over the last few years and continue to scrutinise ourselves when it comes to environmental protection so that we can continue to develop.In addition to clean waste separation, paper avoidance in the office, environmentally friendly packaging materials, sustainable lighting, we also heat in a CO₂-neutral way, use and store our own electricity through our solar systems and use an electric car for our company car.
Online shop
In March 2016, we launched our first own online shop: serverandstorage-shop.com. Although the domain name included everything we sold, the title was a bit complicated to pronounce and typos were almost inevitable when entering it into the search mask 😉. Unfortunately, we didn't realise this until a little later - it's easy to become blind to the things that are in front of your eyes every day. Since the relaunch in February 2022, it's not just typing that's easier. The shop design has also improved considerably and we have even added an online server configurator so that our customers can put together their desired server quickly and easily. But: here too, we are constantly in the process of further development - praise, criticism and suggestions, be it regarding product presentation, shop functions, payment or delivery, are always welcome.
Partners
Of course, we would also like to thank our partners, without whom we would not have made it this far.These include our in-house haulage company, our many suppliers who have supplied us quickly and reliably with the necessary hardware over the years, our trusted waste disposal company, our favourite restaurants where we have both eaten lunch together and celebrated our successes, our web shop and SEO specialists and our recently acquired partner companies in the refurbished software and IT consulting sectors.
Quality
Quality is something that both you as a customer and we ourselves attach great importance to.Used IT has - in some cases - a strange aftertaste, be it with remanufactured hard drives, the technical up-to-dateness of the hardware or its useful life. As an experienced IT remarketing company, we take your concerns seriously and critically scrutinise which products are still economically viable and which should be dismantled and recycled. Hardware that should be refurbished is carefully checked - both visually and technically - to ensure that you only receive products that are in perfect working order.
Refurbished
For us, this is the better alternative to new goods - especially in the area of high-quality business and professional devices, such as those we stock. This is because servers, storage and network devices, workstations or high-performance PCs and notebooks from well-known manufacturers are often unrealisable in terms of price, especially for SMEs. With refurbished hardware, you don't have to push your IT budget to the limit, because although the hardware is state of the art, it is many times cheaper than new equipment. As with cars, for example, the depreciation of IT equipment is highest in the first few years after purchase and use. And buying refurbished is not only easy on the wallet, but also makes a valuable contribution to greater sustainability.
Servers
Our favourites. That's how we started and they are still our - and your - favourites. Back in 2003, when we started our business, it was Itanium machines from DELL or HP or Unix systems from IBM, but soon we moved on to the "goldies" such as the DELL PowerEdge 1850, 2850 or the HP ProLiant DL380 Gen4. It's hard to believe that with an Intel Pentium 4, Pentium D or 800 MHz XEON processor, these seemed almost unbeatable in terms of performance and scalability 😉. However, we at DELL have now moved from the 5th/6th to the 14th and 15th generation in the refurbished sector. The beloved DL380 is available in the 10th generation (Gen 10) and the Intel Scalable processors show us a whole new level of scalability. Our greatest joy: instead of the U320 SCSI disks, one of which weighed a good 1 kg, we have now arrived at the slim and light SSDs. This makes erasing in the data centre not only a lighter, but also a quieter pleasure 😉.
Teamwork
Is a matter of course for us. It is therefore important that everyone contributes their skills and expertise across all departments. Our employees have worked for many years in various positions in the IT hardware sector, and some have moved from technology to purchasing or sales, or from sales to marketing. We therefore support each other with our knowledge, experience and skills.

As a regional and local company, we are committed to supporting charitable projects in the town and the surrounding area.We regularly supply the Computer Spende e.V. association with hardware, support local clubs with professional hardware free of charge and take part in donation programmes for those in need.As football fans, we also support our regional club SV Wenzenbach (e.g. by sponsoring jerseys).We are also a sponsor of the (current) third division team SSV Jahn Regensburg.

Xeon
Server models change, but the XEON remains 😉. From the Intel XEON DP (dual processor) or MP (multiprocessor), to the XEON E5, to the current XEON Scalable processors. We’re coming out – we’re more Team Intel than Team AMD 😉 at least when it comes to servers.
Y2K
Do you still remember the “Year 2000 problem”? At that time it was feared that - due to a lack of memory and the two-digit year numbers - there would be a massive computer problem during the transition from 1999 to 2000. However, the fear of the impending stock market crash, a global economic crisis, traffic light failures and the resulting traffic chaos remained - largely - unfulfilled. The so-called Y2K bug is perhaps the retro version of today's AI fear - and we have also experienced some existential fears in the age of cloud and server hosting - but we now know that in many areas, our own servers are still simply better Solution.
Zuverlässigkeit or "reliability"
One of our most important virtues - because there must be enormous reliability and security, especially in the area of data deletion and data storage. Therefore, only rely on reputable IT remarketing companies that know what they are doing.
